FAQs

Q?If I sleep on a bed mat at an incline does my spouse also need to sleep on one?
A.

The bed mat serves more than one function, if your spouse does not have issues requiring stretching of the lower back muscles they can lay on there own bed mat and position it so that their body from the bottom of their buttocks up is on the rubberized portion of the bed mat to prevent sliding down towards the foot end of the bed. This will prevent them from getting the stretch through the lower back but allows them to get the benefits associated with sleeping at an incline (see benefits of sleeping at an incline section of this website to learn more). They do not necessarily need one but without the bed mat they will slide down towards the foot end of the bed and may find they are repositioning themselves throughout the night without their own bed mat.

Q?Is it painful or uncomfortable to sleep on the bed mat at an incline?
A.

Actually nearly everyone finds it extremely comfortable and soothing and report sleeping better than they have in a very long time from the very first night. But everyone is different, age, weight, activity, lifestyles, medical conditions etc… there could be some slight soreness in the very beginning for some people due to the fact that muscles are gently being stretched that possibly are not use to being stretched. That’s why we instruct starting out raising and supporting the head end of your bed with the provided 3” bed risers to get use to the difference from sleeping horizontal to sleeping at an incline before moving on (if necessary) to the provided 6” bed risers. ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOU HEALTH CARE PROVIDER BEFORE STARTING USE OR CHANGING YOUR NORMAL ROUTINE AND TO INSURE THIS PRODUCT IS OKAY FOR YOU TO USE.

Q?How long do I sleep on it and how often do I sleep on it?
A.

We suggest anything from napping up to a normal night’s sleep of 8 hrs. It is perfectly fine to sleep on it every night.

Q?Does it matter what type or size of bed frame and mattress and box springs I have?
A.

The type of mattress and box springs does not matter. A typical metal bed frame is the best due to stability and corner and support post and wheel size, also most metal bed frames have removable wheels if they are to large to fit in the cup at the top of the provided metal bed risers. A wood type bed frame is okay as long as the two headboard corner post and any center support post are less than 3” in diameter so as to fit in the cup at the top of the provided metal bed risers. If you are using a wood type bed frame you want to make sure all screws, nuts and bolts are secure and tight to insure the integrity of the bed frame. As far as the size of the bed we recommend queen size or smaller due to weight and the amount of support post under some larger beds make it difficult to lift and support safely. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE TO BED FRAMES  SINCE WE ARE NOT ABLE TO INSPECT THEM PRIOR TO SETUP.

Q?Do I have to exercise or stretch before or after using?
A.

You don’t have to but we do recommend that you do, but only if you are capable and your care provider says you can. ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER BEFORE STARTING ANY NEW STRETCHING OR EXERCISE PROGRAM.
